Yunmin (윤민) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and musician. She is the vocalist and guitarist of the band Touched.
She is best known for being the first female contestant to achieve nine consecutive wins on the MBC singing competition program King of Mask Singer. She currently shares the record for the most wins out of any contestant on the show with Ha Hyun Woo of Guckkasten.[1]
Career[]
2012–2013: K-pop Star 2[]
In 2012 and 2013, she was a contestant on the SBS survival show K-pop Star 2.
She passed the first two rounds after performing "Creep" by Radiohead and "Let It Be" by The Beatles.[2][3]
She passed the third round after performing Taeyang's song "I Need a Girl" with Kim Sejeong.[4][5]
She was eliminated during the fourth round, but her performance did not air.
2020–2023: Debut with Touched, Great Seoul Invasion, MPMG MUSIC[]
In 2020, she became the vocalist and guitarist of the band Touched. They debuted on January 21, 2021 with their first digital single "The Dawn Star".
They won multiple music competitions including the 31st Yoo Jae Ha Music Contest, Indiestance 2021, 2021 Rising Star, and the 11th Pyeongtaek National Band Competition.[6][7][8][9]
On September 29, 2022, Touched became the winner of Mnet's band survival show Great Seoul Invasion.[10][11]
On February 24, 2023, it was announced that they signed with MPMG MUSIC, and they were placed under their record label Faction A Like.[12]
2024: King of Mask Singer, The Auditors OST[]
On January 14, 2024, Yunmin began competing as the masked singer The Joys And Sorrows Also Count As Rock (희로애락도 락이다), also known as Rock Is In Every Emotion, on the MBC singing competition program King of Mask Singer in the 434th episode.
On January 21, in the 435th episode, she became the masked queen after defeating B1A4's Sandeul who was the masked king Incense.[13]
On May 19, in the 451st episode, she defeated the winner of the MBN survival show Voice King, LEENU, who was the masked singer Lucky Box. As a result, she became the first female contestant to achieve nine consecutive wins and tied the record set in 2016 by Guckkasten's Ha Hyun Woo for the most wins out of any contestant on the show.[14]
On June 2, while competing for her 10th consecutive win, she was unmasked in the 453rd episode after she was defeated in a vote of 47 to 52 by musical actor Min Woo Hyuk who was the masked singer Hercules (also written as Heracles).[15]
During the show, Yunmin had a total of 13 performances.[16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28]
On July 7, the show released Mask Singer 'Yun Min' Special Album that featured the live audio recordings of her performances of "그대가 분다" by M.C the Max, "생각이나" by Boohwal, and "거북선" by Kim Jong Seo.
On July 24, she returned to King of Mask Singer as a guest panelist and performed "What Shall I Do" by Sanullim as part of Touched in the 460th episode.[29]
On July 27, the song "Take Me Down" that she recorded for "The Auditors OST Part.2" was released.[30]
2025: "Autobahn"[]
On March 15, 2025, she was featured on the song "Autobahn" released by Mingi of ATEEZ.[31]
